Satya Narayan Sabat
Satya Narayan Sabat – He is a native of Koraput, Odisha, dis his M.Sc. (Physics), with specialization in electronics, joined as a UGC Research fellow, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 1987. He joined The Indian Police Service. U.P. in 1990 Batch in Uttar Pradesh.
He had several important assignments in Uttar Pradesh as Superintendent of Police and Deuputy Inspector General of Police. He also worked as a DIG in CRPF Lucknow, and IG Operations for Central Reserve Police Force in Odisha. He organized skill development training programs for the rural youth of Odisha in 2011-2012, who were susceptible to Human trafficking and also armed extremism (naxalism), to Provide the m an alternative livelihood after training them in different trades. More than a thousand people had access to employment and some become successful entrepreneurs. He is presently works as Additional DG of Police at Lucknow.
Shri Sabat served in the United Nations Organization in Kosovo, Yogoslavia, in United Nations Peacekeeping Mission, 2001-2002, in the war torn turbulent days of Kosovo, in mitigation of Ethnic Conflicts. He is a recipient of UN Peace Medal in 2001. He also participated in the United Nations Sponsored 8TH High level training in Vicenza, Italy in December, 2007.
In recognition of his excellent service as an IPS officer he has received the prestigious President’s Police Medal for Distinguished service in 2014, Meritorious Service medal, (2006). He won several other awards including the DG CRPF Discs in 2012 and 2013 & 2014.
Working as a police officer did not deter him from doing research and publish academic research papers. He earned a doctorate in his research entitled, ‘A Critical appraisal of Human Rightis in Indian cultural and Constitutional context’ and also authored book in Human Rights. His recent work was on cultural heritage of kasha, (on City of Varanasi, which has continuing civilization since very ancient days, may be five thousand years old) entitled’ Kashi ki Virasat’ in Hindi. He has many publication in international and National journals. He has published in The International Journal of Human Rights, London on human rights in 2008. He was also awarded by National Human Right Commision of India, New Delhi (Biennial Award) for Creative Writing in Hindi on Human Rights for 2004-2005 for his work in Hindi on ‘Concepts of Human Rights in Indian Culture’. He visits Malavya Peace Research Center, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, SVP National Police Academy, Hyderabad and many other Universities and institutions for delivering lecturers on human Rights and Other subjects like women’s rights, community policing, conflict management etc. Like ASP of Ayodhya, Varanasi, Superintendent of Police, Agra City, District Jalaun & Mirzapur, Senior Superintendent of Police in Etawah, Muzaffarnagar and Varanasi districts and Deputy Inspector general of Police in Varanasi, Mirzapur and Kanpur etc.
